Born and raised in Nigeria, Rita completed her Bachelor of Laws (LLB.) at the University of Benin, Nigeria, She attended the Nigerian Law School, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in December, 2015. Rita maintained a general legal practice for more than four years before immigrating to Canada in 2020.
Even as a new immigrant to Canada, Rita had a strong desire to return to her calling in the practice of law. She worked as a full-time legal assistant while studying for and writing her qualifying exams with the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, and obtained her Certificate of Qualification in 2022.
Rita joined Rodin Law Firm as a Student-at-Law in 2023, and completed her articles under the mentorship of Cary J.M. Rodin. During her articling year, Rita realized her sense of purpose in advocating for the rights of injured victims of negligence and medical malpractice. Rita was called to the Alberta Bar in 2024, and maintains a personal injury practice.
Rita is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. During her free time, Rita enjoys reading, music, movies, and taking long walks in nature.
In addition to English, Rita is fluent in written and spoken Igbo and Pidgin English.
