Litigation Associate

Rodin Law Firm is a well-established Calgary litigation firm with an award-winning reputation in personal injury, medical negligence, disability insurance, and general civil litigation matters.

We are seeking a Litigation Associate with approximately three to five years of experience to join our civil litigation team. 

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding litigation matters, including medical negligence, catastrophic injury, insurance disputes, civil sexual assault claims, employment matters, and other general civil litigation files, in a close-knit team of experienced trial lawyers. 

The successful candidate will become an integral member of our litigation team and will be entrusted with meaningful responsibility and direct involvement at every stage of the litigation process.  At Rodin Law Firm, our associates are encouraged to take ownership of their files, and will be responsible for general litigation strategy, client management, and all litigation processes including Questioning, mediation, and trial preparation.  Working closely with experienced trial counsel, the successful candidate will be provided with mentorship, professional development opportunities, and the support necessary to continue developing as a courtroom litigator.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and advancing files through all stages of the litigation process; 
  • Conducting legal research and preparing legal documents, including pleadings, application materials, briefs, etc…
  • Conducting Questionings, mediations, applications, and other advocacy work;
  • Working directly with clients, insurers and opposing counsel, medical professionals, and the Court; 
  • Developing and effecting litigation strategy; and
  • Working alongside our team of experienced trial lawyers and paralegals to produce the best results possible for our clients. 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a law degree (LLB, JD, or comparable);
  • Be called to the Alberta Bar and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta; 
  • Have approximately three to five years of litigation experience, with personal injury and/or medical negligence experience considered an asset; 
  • Be highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities in a busy litigation practice;
  • Be intellectually curious and able to digest complicated medical, technical, and evidentiary issues;
  • Take ownership of their files and be comfortable exercising judgment independently;
  • Have strong written and oral advocacy skills, and be committed to continual development;
  • Be comfortable interacting with clients, paralegals, and other lawyers, 
  • Value professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork, 
  • Take pride in producing high-quality work and providing exceptional client service; and
  • Be committed to achieving exceptional results for all our clients.
