Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Rodin Law Firm is a well-established Calgary litigation firm with an award-winning reputation in personal injury, medical negligence, disability insurance, and general civil litigation matters.

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our growing team. 

This position is ideal for an organized and proactive litigation paralegal/legal assistant who enjoys taking ownership of files, working closely with lawyers and clients, and playing a meaningful role in the successful resolution of complex litigation matters. 

At Rodin Law Firm, our paralegals are trusted and valued members of our litigation team, who work alongside our lawyers and whose contributions have a direct impact on the success of our files and the service we provide to our clients. The successful candidate will become an integral member of our litigation team and will be entrusted with significant responsibility in the day-to-day management of files, from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overall management of litigation files; 
  • Maintaining accurate and organized electronic and physical files; 
  • Managing coordination of litigation processes, including questionings, independent medical examinations, mediations, etc…;
  • Obtaining, reviewing, and organizing document production;
  • Assisting with the preparation of correspondence, pleadings, and other litigation documents;
  • Assisting with trial preparation and file strategy;
  • Communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, medical professionals, and the court;
  • Working proactively in the efficient progression and resolution of litigation matters, alongside lawyers and other paralegals.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a graduate of a recognized legal assistant or paralegal program, or have equivalent experience;
  • Have prior law firm experience of at least three years in the litigation practice area, with personal injury and/or medical negligence experience considered an asset; 
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Be capable of working independently and in a team environment; 
  • Be proactive, resourceful, and dependable;
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, strong problem-solving skills, and willingness to take initiative; and
  • Take pride in producing high-quality work and providing exceptional client service.
