Sarah’s practice includes criminal, constitutional and regulatory litigation. She defends individuals and organizations, with a particular focus on complex criminal litigation and appellate work. She is also frequently sought after by colleagues in criminal, civil and administrative practice, to consult and collaborate on files that require skills in crisis management, discreet problem solving, or the Charter and criminal law.

Sarah is as well-known for her compassionate and client-focused work as she is for exceptional written and oral advocacy and creative legal thinking. She has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, numerous times before the Supreme Court of Canada, and practices across western Canada.

Sarah received her law degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of law, where she graduated with Honors and was the valedictorian. She articled for a top criminal defence firm before returning home to Alberta, where she clerked at the Alberta Court of Appeal. She also holds an MA in Criminology and Sociolegal studies from the University of Toronto, and a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Alberta. She has lectured at law faculties and programs across the country, and contributed to texts on criminal and mental health law. In her spare time, she is an avid reader, trivia night regular, and bird-watcher.
